One Michael Hirst 'Safari' Chair, 50's
Based on Indian Roorkhee Chairs used by the British military, the Safari Chair is an early example of self-assembled furniture. It features a no-glue frame, tool-free assembly, and an intelligent construction that causes the joints to tighten when the chair is sat on, enhancing its strength and stability. It features a solid rosewood frame, leather seat and saddle leather armrests.
