Italian Rattan Coffee Table, c.1950s
$1,880
A beautifully constructed Italian rattan coffee table dating to the 1950s. The circular top is formed from tightly coiled rattan, creating a graphic concentric pattern, supported by a wonderfully sculptural bent-rattan base.
Continuous looped legs curve beneath the table and intersect through the centre, creating a light yet architectural structure. Darker hand-wrapped bindings at the joints provide a subtle contrast against the warm honey-toned rattan.
A particularly lovely example of post-war Italian rattan design, with an organic modernist quality reminiscent of the work of Franco Albini.
