Fiandra Modular Sofa by Cassina, Italy 1970's
A sculptural modular Fiandra sofa by Cassina, defined by its generous proportions, low profile and softly rounded form. Designed as a series of individual elements, the Fiandra can be arranged in a number of configurations, from a traditional sofa to a more open, informal setting.
This early example has been completely restored and recently reupholstered in a beautiful Kvadrat textile. Beige and yellow threads are interwoven throughout the fabric, creating an overall fawn neutral that shifts subtly with the light. The weave adds warmth and depth while remaining quiet and easy to place.
Due to the age of the sofa, the original backrests were no longer able to be retained and required restoration. They have been replaced in keeping with the proportions and character of the original design, while the original modular bases and distinctive rounded forms have been preserved.
A particularly comfortable and versatile piece, with the generous scale and relaxed profile characteristic of Cassina’s designs of the period.
