Brutalist dark Oak Sideboard by Charles Dudouyt, France 1940's

$7,250

Coming Soon - End March

A striking and sculptural sideboard attributed to Charles Dudouyt, executed in solid oak and defined by its deeply carved geometric panels. Each door is centred with Dudouyt’s signature rosette motif – bold, architectural and almost Brutalist in its repetition – giving the piece a strong rhythmic presence.

The façade is beautifully balanced with two central drawers above four cupboard doors, all framed by delicate carved borders and original iron hardware. The scalloped apron and sturdy block legs ground the piece, while the rich patina of the oak highlights the depth and shadow of the carvings.

Dudouyt’s work sits at the intersection of French Art Deco and early Modernism, and this example captures that tension perfectly — decorative yet restrained, primitive yet refined.
